Gomba Lions have officially unveiled Felix Ssekabuuza Kawooya as their head coach for the 2026 campaign, marking his fourth spell at the helm as the team seeks a return to glory in the Masaza Cup.

Speaking during the unveiling ceremony held at Green View Garden and Restaurant, Ssekabuuza expressed confidence in delivering success once again for the Gomba faithful.

Felix Ssekabuuza, head coach Gomba Lions

“I am happy that I have returned to Gomba for my fourth time, and whenever I have been here, we have been reaching finals and winning trophies. With my team, we shall do our best to bring happiness to the people of Gomba this year,” he stated.

Ssekabuuza last coached Gomba in 2023, guiding them to the final where they narrowly lost to Buddu. Since then, the team has struggled, failing to progress beyond the group stages in both 2024 and 2025.

Gomba Lions team manager Resty Mbatidde Namugema backed the returning tactician, highlighting his winning mentality and experience.

“We have much trust in Ssekabuuza. He is a winner, he has the winning character, and he is always hungry for trophies. He is very aggressive, together with his team, and we believe at the end of the day, the work will be perfectly done,” she noted.

The colorful event attracted key stakeholders in Gomba, including the county chief (Kitunzi) Fred Williams Mugabi, his deputy, the head of sports in Gomba, club president Jane Namatovu, and a host of passionate Gomba Lions supporters.
