Finance Trust Women Super League: Nakagolo’s Late Double Maintains Kawempe at the Helm

Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC extended their unbeaten run against Amus Women Football Club with a hard-fought 2-1 victory in an entertaining encounter played on Saturday at Amus College School Stadium in Bukedea.
Speedster Jovia Nakagolo was the hero of the day, netting a late brace to secure all three points and keep Kawempe Muslim at the summit of the table with 39 points, just one ahead of She Corporate.
The hosts made a dream start, taking the lead inside the opening five minutes through Doreen Aujat. She calmly beat Sharifah Nakimera before slotting the ball into the back of the net to give Amus a 1-0 advantage at halftime.
Kawempe Muslim pushed for an equalizer before the break but struggled to convert their chances, with Nakagolo among those guilty of missed opportunities.
However, the forward redeemed herself in the closing stages of the match. In the 85th minute, Nakagolo capitalized on a rebound after Amus goalkeeper Elizabeth Atieno failed to firmly handle a high ball from Nakimera, leveling the score at 1-1.
She nearly added a second moments later but missed a one-on-one opportunity with Atieno in the 89th minute.
Undeterred, Nakagolo returned to decisive action in stoppage time. Nakimera delivered a well-taken free kick, and Nakagolo applied a simple finish to complete her brace and spark wild celebrations among the traveling Kawempe supporters.
The victory marked Kawempe Muslim’s first-ever win away at Amus College, with their previous two meetings ending in 1-1 draws.
Elsewhere, She Corporate kept pace in the title race with a 2-1 win over Makerere University at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru.
At St. Gerald Grounds in Lubaga, Kampala Queens secured a 2-0 victory to complete a season double, courtesy of goals from Peace Muduwa and Joan Ainembabazi.
The league continues on Sunday with several fixtures lined up. Asubo Ladies FC will face Lady Doves at Kampala Quality in Kisaasi, St. Noa Girls host Olila High School at Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku, while She Maroons take on Rines SS at the Prisons Grounds in Luzira.
