Africa Netball Championship: She Cranes Fly High Again, Malawi Awaits the Storm at the Semis

In a display of grit, precision, and unyielding ambition, the She Cranes stormed into the semi-finals of the Africa Netball Cup after overpowering Namibia 47–39 in their decisive final Group B clash on Thursday at the electrifying Griffin Sayenda Sports Complex.

Uganda wasted no time stamping their authority on the game. With swift ball circulation, tight defensive coverage, and relentless attacking pressure, the She Cranes surged to a 14–5 first-quarter lead. By halftime, they had doubled their advantage, confidently heading into the break with a commanding 28–13 cushion.

Namibia attempted a spirited revival in the second half, reducing the gap through improved mobility and aggression. But Uganda’s experience and discipline ensured the contest remained firmly in their hands, closing the third quarter at 37–28 before sealing qualification with an eight-goal victory.

Once again, it was Shadia Nassanga who lit up Lilongwe.
The sharp-shooting goal attacker — now becoming a symbol of composure under pressure — delivered another masterclass, earning her the Player of the Match accolade.

Her message after the final whistle was direct, confident, and revealing of Uganda’s inner fire. Yet beneath her brilliance was a visible truth: fatigue.

Shadia, along with midfielder Margaret Baagala, has logged some of the highest minutes for Uganda in the tournament. Even so, her spirit remained unwavering, her accuracy unshaken — a testament to both conditioning and character.
