The 2025/26 Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Elite League officially kicks off this Saturday, October 18, ushering in a new chapter for Uganda’s second division women’s football competition.
This season comes with an expanded lineup of 16 teams, up from 14 last year, all of which have successfully met the FUFA Club Licensing requirements.
The teams have been pooled into two groups—Elizabeth and Victoria—each consisting of eight teams. The grouping was based on geographical proximity to reduce transport costs and ease team logistics during the long season.
Elizabeth Group: Tooro Queens FC, Boni Consilli WFC, Buhimba Lady Saints FC, She Kasese Soccer Club, PISGBC Queens FC, Wakiso Hill WFC, URA Ladies FC, and UPDF WFC.
Victoria Group: Ateker WFC, Gold Star Ladies FC, Pabo United WFC, UCU Lady Cardinals FC, Highway Ladies FC, Lira City Queens FC, Jinja United WFC, and Jinja City Queens FC.
Each group will compete in a round-robin format, and the top team from each group will earn promotion to the Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League next season.
The opening weekend promises an exciting start, with UPDF WFC hosting PISGBC Queens FC at Bombo Barracks Ground, and Pabo United WFC welcoming Jinja United WFC in Gulu. The rest of the fixtures will be played on Sunday across different regions of the country.
As the curtain rises on this new campaign, anticipation is high, and all eyes will be on which clubs can set the pace early in the race for promotion.
