Kabamba Military Academy Produces 352 New Officers in Colorful Ceremony

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has commissioned a fresh group of 352 officer cadets at the Uganda Military Academy Kabamba, reaffirming Uganda’s commitment to building a disciplined, skilled, and regionally integrated defense force.
The colorful ceremony, held on Sunday in Mubende District, was marked by military parades, oaths of allegiance, and celebrations by family members and visiting delegations. The newly commissioned officers completed rigorous training programs, including the Bachelor of Defence Studies, the Professional Cadet Short Course, and specialized military programs abroad.
In a notable show of regional collaboration, this year’s intake included officers from several neighboring countries — Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, South Sudan, and the Central African Republic — underscoring Kabamba’s growing reputation as a regional center for military excellence.
President Museveni commended the graduates for their endurance, discipline, and commitment to national and regional peace.
“Wearing this uniform is not just about power — it is about responsibility and service,” Museveni said. “The UPDF must continue to be a disciplined, people-centered force that defends our sovereignty and supports peace across Africa.”
He also emphasized the importance of integrity, patriotism, and continuous learning, urging the officers to use their training to strengthen Uganda’s defense systems and contribute to the stability of the East African region.
The commissioning event was attended by top military officials, defense attachés, and regional representatives, who applauded Uganda’s role in professionalizing its forces and supporting regional defense cooperation.
For many of the graduates, the day marked the culmination of months of intense physical, tactical, and academic training, preparing them to serve both at home and in international peacekeeping missions.
As the cadets tossed their caps into the air, the Kabamba skies symbolized not just celebration but a renewed pledge — a new generation of officers ready to serve with honor, integrity, and resilience.
