FEASSA Games 2025: Amidst Unfriendly and Hostile Environment in Kenya, Bukedea Returns Home Smiling

The challenging 2025 Federation of East Africa Schools Sports Association’s championship finally climaxed on Friday in Kakamega, the western part of Kenya.
In football boys category, Uganda’s Bukedea Comprehensive School crowned the champion after beating the locals’ favourite school, Musingu High School, 2-1 in the final match held in Kisumu.
For starters, the final match was supposed to be hosted in Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega but due to rampant hooliganism by the locals, the organisers opted to switch the match to Kisumu for the safety of the students.
The level of violence in the area also forced Bukedea to leave their Bus behind and used Kenyan school bus so that they can reach Kisumu safely.
Besides that, Bukedea Comprehensive kept their heads high and came from a goal behind to beat Musingu 2-1, thanks to a brace from a form one student and the eventual tournament’s MVP, Businge Amisi Yabil.
To reach final, Bukedea came as table leaders with 14 points, beating Kenya’s Butere Boy’s High School 1-0 before finishing the job on final with a 2-1 victory over Musingu.
Bukedea lifted the East Africa trophy for the first time in history and brought glory to Uganda.
In girls football, St. Noa Girls School beat Kawempe Muslim SS 1-0 on the final to defend the trophy they first won in 2024 in Bukedea.
Agnes Nabukenya, Kawempe Muslim SS skipper and the tournament’s top scorer with nine goals voted as the Most Valuable Player of the tournament.
