FEASSA Games 2024: Amus Continues with ‘Perfect’ Losing Run, Rines, St Julian Shine

The Uganda’s champions, St Julian High School start on a high, beating Tanzania’s Kalangalala as the hosts Amus College School continues with their poor start.
The USSSA Ball Games I Boy’s football champions, St Julian earned a 2-1 hard fought victory against resilient Tanzanians in the afternoon match honored on Tuesday at Amus College Lower pitch.
Goal poacher, Simon Wanyama and pacey forward, Patrick Ssenkusu were both on target for the Uganda’s champions in the first stanza.
Tanzania’s Kalangalala also had a consolation via Dickson Bimarungu penalty.
Wanyama went on target in the ninth minute with a far post strike, thanks to Simone Ssevume’s assist. Ssenkusu doubled the lead, nine minutes later but Kalangalala won a penalty in the first minute of the added time for the first stanza to end 2-1.
In the second stanza, Felix Ssekabuuza coached side went for maintenance though some wasted chances were created by both teams.
“We came with a target of winning each game,thank God we have gained the three points and boosted us into our next game.” Said Felix Ssekabuuza, St Julian’s tactician.
St Julian High now in second place with three points, one behind Amus College School who won their match 2-1 against APE-RUGUNGA and moved to four points in two matches.
Majub Toto sent the host into an early 13th minute 1-0 lead before Bashir Mansur sealed the victory with the second 53 minutes into the game.
Amus will be in action for their third engagement on Friday 23rd to face off with St. Julian High School.
St. Julian High School will play Rwanda’s Ape-Rungunga tomorrow Wednesday, the 21st August.
Meanwhile, Amus College School’s girls football team continued with their poor start, they lost 2-0 against Uganda’s losing finalists, Rines SS, Rines’ goals came from Nakato Nanyanzi Patricia and Immaculate Odalu.
In two games, the school has registered no goal, no point and the fans forced the School’s proprietor, Hon. Patrick Insiagi to sack the head coach Frank Video Anyau with immediate effect.
