UPL: SC Villa Hands Isabirye a Sour Welcome at Wankulukuku, These Streets are Hot
SC Villa have defeated Express FC 2-1 on Friday evening at Wankulukuku in a rescheduled Kampala Derby.
Patrick Jona Kakande and Umar Lutalo who scored from the spot, helped SC Villa complete a well deserving 2-1 comeback against rivals Express FC.
Alpha Thierry Ssali scored the only goal for Express.
SC Villa got a clear chance to go in the lead in the 6th minute but Hakim Kiwanuka failed to score in a one-on-one situation after a well planned counter attack.
In the 14th minute, Alpha Ssali netted the opener to put Express in the lead. Alpha made a good run and received a good pass inside the box from Isaac Wagoina and Alpha’s powerful shot was deflected at the back of the bottom right corner of the goal and his Dad and singer Bebe Cool was in stands cheering the boy.
SC Villa almost responded with equalizer but Masembe’s double efforts were both saved and blocked respectively and for corner kicks.
In the 34th minute, SC Villa equalized through Patrick Kakande. The teenager who was clearly offside used his weaker left foot to slot the ball past the goalkeeper and leveled the matters and his goal stood.
Ten minutes inside the second half, Ivan Bogere calmly controlled Kenneth Ssemakula’s cross inside the box to beat the opponent, but Bogere’s powerful shot went few inches over the crossbar.
In the 64th minute, Ronald Ssekiganda was fouled by substitute Muwanguzi inside the box and the referee awarded a penalty to SC Villa. Umar Lutalo stepped up and sent the goalkeeper the wrong way to put the visitors in the lead and it was his 5th goal this season.
In the added minutes, Isaac Wagoina had a chance to put the ball into the back of the net but he instead dodged the goalkeeper first and the defender closed him which made him forced to play a blind pass.
At the fulltime, SC Villa were the winners of the day and the defeat means Express have gone 6 consecutive game minus a win. New coach Alex Isabirye was on the touchline.
In the next game, Express FC will visit Kitara FC on Tuesday, December 12th in Masindi while SC Villa, will host Gaddafi FC at Wankulukuku in the following day.
