Pepsi UFL: The ‘weewe’ Soon to be in ‘Woowe’, Makerere Risks Five Years Ban If Continues With Fans’ Hooliganism

The pioneers of Pepsi University football league, Makerere University risks to face a five years’ ban if their fans continues with hooliganism acts on the pitch.

The University football league Disciplinary Committee handed Makerere University a five year suspended ban following their fans’ hooliganism habits exhibited in their away group stage game against YMCA in Buwambo. 

The match prematurely ended and the ruling indicated that Makerere lost the game by forfeiture, docked off six points and six goals and handed a five year ban that is if they repeat the same acts.

DC-2022-03: YMCA vs Makerere

Match was halted and not completed due to fan interruptions after YMCA scored second goal to lead 2-1.

1. Makerere loses match to YMCA by forfeiture (3-0). YMCA goals to stand.

2. Makerere docked 6pts & 6goals

3. Makerere fined 1m.

4. Makerere given a suspended 5yr suspension from the league.

Makerere may appeal ruling within 48hrs.” Statement reads.

The other disciplinary cases that were handled include that of University of Kisubi.

DC-2022-01: University of Kisubi Player Impersonation

Player pretending to be Amos Tugume discovered prior to game between Muni and UniK and stopped from playing.

1. UniK fined 500,000/- for attempted player impersonation.

2. All UniK players to be reverified.

UniK may appeal ruling within 48hrs.”

“DC-2022-02: IUEA vs Victoria

Match was not played as host team IUEA pitch and players were not ready to play within 1hr of the scheduled kick-off time.

1. IUEA loses match to Victoria by forfeiture (3-0)

2. IUEA fined 500,000/- for attempting to field non-licensed players.

IUEA may appeal ruling within 48hrs.”
