Incredible Eastern Region Finish As Jinja North, Mbale Heroes Book Places in Promotional Play Offs
It was a tight contest in the 2021/22 Eastern Regional league in both groups as teams had to wait until final day to confirm who qualifies for the promotional play offs to Star Times FUFA Big League next season.
Jinja North emerged the winners of Nile Group (Busoga) following their 4-1 away win over Jinja Municipal Council Hippos at Kakindu Stadium on Friday 13th, May 2022.
Denis Kirabira scored for Jinja Municipal Council Hippos while Azizi Kemba, Dickson Owuta, Franco Mugomba and Franco Magero scored for Jinja North
Samson Tibakuuno a player of the hosts, Jinja Municipal Council Hippos was shown matching order (Red card) at Seven (7) minutes past an hour mark.
In Bukedi group, Mbale Heroes Football Club settled for a one all draw (1-1) with Mbale Garage Football Club to also earn a slot in play offs.
Simon Ddungu coached side started the game knowing that a draw will automatically help them book a place in the promotional play offs no matter the results from Admin Football Club game against Islamic University In Uganda (IUIU) in Paya, Tororo.
Having started a better away side, Mbale Heroes were dealt with 40th minute blow when Mbale Garage scored through Oscar Kasango.
With just 18 minutes to official full time minutes, Mbale Heroes resurrected when Derrick Dangachu scored to level the game giving life to Heroes.
Elsewhere, Admin Football club defeated IUIU by 2-1 score line at Paya Primary School. Isaac Kisujju and Charles Akena scored the two (2) goals for Admin FC.
Busia United Football Club defeated Sky Sports Football club.
Bukedi group final game will be played on Monday 16th, May 2022 between Busia Young hosting Mbale Garage at Madibira playground.
Dates and venue for the Eastern Region League promotional play offs will be confirmed a meeting which will be held on a date yet to be communicated.
