Kampala Queens extended it’s unbeaten run to ten games as the side rallied from behind to beat the frustrated Asubo Gafford Ladies by 3-1 in a match played on 5th,February ,2023 at Kampala Quality play ground.

The three goals came from Elizabeth Nakigozi,Magret Kunuhira and Substitute Sophia Nakiyingi and the one goal for Gafford was scored by Zaitun Namaganda.

Namaganda,Gafford’s new signing from Tagy High School, drew the first blood for the hosts in the 25th minute, when she obtained a brilliant pass from Musimenta, beating two Kampala Queens defenders to score from close range to put the hosts into the lead.

The same player Namaganda was denied what looked to be a penalty after she was fouled by the Kampala Queens defender in the 30th minute.

In the added minutes of the first half ,the hosts happiness was cut short when Elizabeth Nakigozi shot from close range when the defenders of the Asubo-Gafford Ladies failed to control the ball finding the lady in the right place to bring the palace Queens back in the game.

Early in the second half ,the visitors came determined and indeed their strength was exhibited in the 46th minute when Margret Kunihira got a through pass from Nassuna to double the lead.

The rest of the minutes on the pitch were for Kampala Queens pressing hard to score as many goals to create very good differences .

Towards the end of the game in 87minutes,the substitute Sophia Nakiyingi scored the third goal for the visitors putting them in the comfortable zone .

The win takes them to 30 points with 11 points gap between them and Martyrs the second placed side that lost their game 1-0 against Rines FC and the loss for hosts leaves them in the last position with only four points.

Despite accepting a loss, Asubo-Gafford Ladies gaffer Rogers Nkugwa wasn’t happy with the decision of FUFA not releasing his players in time which disorganized his preparations.

“We lost the game,we wanted three points but didn’t work out, we had a chance to kill the game in first half but the girls were not clinical enough.” Says Nkugwa.

Among the players Nkugwa much wanted to use was Kamiyat, they club signed from Tagy High School but he failed to use her due to late clearance.

“Yes I was planned a lot on her because our biggest challenge is scoring but FUFA delayed to clear her and the other two in Sarah Nakuya and Zaitun Namaganda were only cleared in the morning, so that disorganize the preparation of the team but I believe by next game she will be available.”

Asubo will be paying a short visit to Lubaga to play against Uganda Martyrs.
