UNEB: Over 60 Inmates to Sit this Year’s PLE

Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB), on Friday 4th, November 2022, at the Uganda Media Center, confirmed that only sixty one (61) candidates are inmates from Upper Prison School, Luzira are ready to sit their Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) this year, 2022.

The examinations will officially begin on Monday 7th, November 2022, with the actual writing of papers taking place on Tuesday 8th and Wednesday 9th, November 2022.

A total of 832,810 candidates are expected to sit for this year’s PLE at 14,154 examination centres, hence an increase by 82,999 candidates from 2020.

Five pupils in the country have so far tested positive for Ebola virus.

UNEB Executive Director, Mr Dan Odong, said that for the students that have tested positive for Ebola virus, the Ministry of Health (MoH) is ready to work tirelessly to cure all students such that they don’t miss out on their exams.

Mr Odong also warns all persons contemplating involvement in any form of examination malpractice that they will be dealt with in accordance with the UNEB Act 2021.

Mr Odong advises all Heads of Centres to ensure that the health and safety Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as provided by the MoH are fully observed.

This year’s theme is to ensure integrity and security in the management of examinations, plus the health and safety of learners is a joint responsibility.

In this regard, the Director of Praise Junior School from Wakaliga, Mr Ssentongo Michael, has said that his students have studied for over seven (7) years, and therefore all preparations are done for the pupils to finally sit their exams this year.
