FUFA DRUM: Minister Urges People To Support Kampala and Buganda Provinces.

Buganda Kingdom Minister For Youths, Sports and Leisure, Owek. Henry Ssekabembe Kiberu, has urged the people in Buganda Kingdom to turn up and support Kampala and Buganda provinces in the ongoing FUFA Drum Tournament.

Owek. Ssekabembe was speaking at the Buganda Region Football Associations 9th Annual General Assembly held on Friday 9th, September 2022 at Jobia Hotel in Mukono.

“I call upon all people in Buganda Kingdom to always turn up and support Buganda and Kampala provinces in the ongoing FUFA Drum, because other provinces have turned up for the [same] cause. If possible, let us join it as sports tourism,” Owek. Ssekabembe urged.

“We, as Buganda Kingdom, have always been open that we don’t compete with FUFA, but we work together to see that we develop football and the connection has been clear,” Owek. Ssekabembe added in his remarks.

“FUFA always give us (Buganda Kingdom) referees, capacity building, and also guide us in the development of football. So, we don’t have any doubt as we develop Masaza, schools and Bika. We will strongly work together with FUFA,” Owek. Ssekabembe noted.

Buganda Province will take on defending champions, Acholi Province, on Sunday 11th, September 2022 at the Boma Grounds in Kitgum in the quarterfinals.

Buganda Province eliminated Ankole Province via a 2-1 win on aggregate, while Acholi Province ejected Bunyoro Province via a 1-0 scoreline after two legs.

Kampala Province will battle it out with West Nile Province, who lost in the finals of the inaugural FUFA Drum tournament.

All Quarterfinal 1st Leg Fixtures:

Sunday 11th, September 2022: Acholi Vs Buganda (Boma Grounds, Kitgum).

Sunday 18th, September 2022: West Nile Vs Kampala (Ababet Green Light Stadium, Arua).

Saturday 24th, September 2022: Bugisu Vs Lango (Mbale Stadium).

Sunday 25th, September 2022: Teso Vs Tooro (Soroti Stadium).
