Youth Football: Four Academies Pulled Out of UYFA B13 Tourney, Get Replacements
The arrangement for the inaugural Uganda Youth Football Association B13 tournament still on but with some changes basing on the tourney requirements.
As per the documents released earlier by the Uganda Youth Football Association (UYFA) secretariat, four academies were given a deadline to confirm participation in the inaugural B13 Football Championship but failed cooperate and thy were replaced by new ones to avoid any inconveniences ahead.
El Cambio Academy, Kitenga Rangers Football Academy (Masaka), Twinbrook Sports Academy (Mityana), and YES Sports Academy (Bukedi) are the replacements of; Summer Kids Soccer Academy (Busia), Mityana Soccer Academy, West Nile Soccer Academy (Arua), and Lukaya Soccer Academy (Masaka).
Girls football is also set to be inaugurated in the championship, and UYFA has set dates from Saturday 20th to Sunday 21st August 2022 for the girls’ soccer, with all teams that showed interest confirming their participation.
Amidst fears that the Championship could be interrupted by the flooding in Mbale District that has claimed a number of lives, UYFA have come out to assure participants that there will be no interruptions to the proceeds.
“We wish to also inform you that Mbale Town where Nkoma Senior Secondary School (the hosting school), the fields and routes to be used during the championship are safe and flood free.
The panic caused by the floods, with houses being submerged, crops and roads wiped out developing from the overflow of Nabuyonga and Namatala rivers shouldn’t be a threat to the participating contingents,” a statement from the UYFA leadership confirmed.
“Our advanced team will be in Mbale on Monday 8th, August 2022 and the findings will be publicized,” the statement added.
The vetting of teams started on Sunday 31st, July 2022 and will end on Sunday 7th, August 2022 in the respective areas.
The UYFA vetting official has so far been in Agago, Lira, Soroti, Mbale, Busia, Jinja, and Mukono. He is set to continue with the process on Wednesday 3rd, August 2022 in Masaka, Ntungamo, and Rwampara.
The vetting will be carried on to other regions as guided by the player vetting schedule developed by the UYFA secretariat.
