Naguru Police Kids Soccer Academy Internal Challenge Eid cup climaxed on Thursday 13th, May 2021 on Eid day at Former Progressive Secondary School Kawuga, Mukono District.
By end of the final game, Team Government crowned the Champions of the maiden internal tournament after defeating Team Shafiq 6-5 via penalty shootouts following a one all draw in normal time.
Team Shafiq through their target Man Raji Juma were leading in the first half after tapping home Aziz Mugalula’s cross from the right flank at half an hour (30 minutes) of the play.
Team Government which had a lot of talents the likes of 2020 CECAFA U17 Most Valuable Player Travis Mutyaba, Ismael Keita Ndifuna, towering defender Yusuf Sserwanga squeezed for an equalizer but all in vain.
Raji Juma failed on three attempts to double the lead for his side in Team Shafiq but shot stopper Samuel Nabwiso was watching.
Continuous attacks from Travis Mutyaba as he tackled near the danger zone and Yusuf Sserwanga converted a well taken free kick past Saddam Kissa to send the game into level with just two minutes to final whistle.
Center referee Zziwa Paul took the game directly into penalty shootouts.
In the shoots, Okello Simon Peter, promising talent, Kevin Kitenda, Bakale Kironde, Yusuf Sserwanga, Ismael Keita Ndifuna and Travis Mutyaba converted their takes on Derisa Tamale was denied by Saddam Kissa on the side of Team Government.
Aziz Mugalula, Amis “Jjaja” Kigenyi, Ben “Lefter” Kitute, Jacob Opendi, and Captain Yob Olupot scored their takes but they were not enough as second half substitute Ampiire Emma Kayongo had missed their takes.
“To create a competitive environment we divided these Players into houses so that they can understand competition because of the COVID-19 situation we are unable to go for tournaments.” Stated Mudholo Shafiq the leader of the Academy.
“The management is so excited because we have seen from day one that the Boys and Girls can put up a fighting spirit and sportsmanship as well. We believe by the time football returns to normal we will be set to go.”
Mudholo could not hide his excitement to thank their partners who have been with them from day one to see that these talents can Excel.
“We Thank Uganda Police, Our Dear Parents, Mukono Kings High School, Royal Junior School Mukono, Entebbe Preparatory School and all other Schools for always standing with us in these trying moments”.
Guest of Honor Jonathan Mawejje from Royal Junior School Mukono promised and ensured Naguru Police Kids Soccer Academy that relationship will always stay despite the trying times in the Country.
