Women’s Super League: Kampala Queens Delays Martyrs’ Qualification
Kampala Queens delayed wasteful Uganda Martyrs’s qualification to semifinal of FUFA Women’s Super League.
The 2020/21 season new signing, Lukia Namubiru scored late to send Kidde girls into ‘cardiac arrest’ and relieved pressure off Kampala Queens.
Her goal came in the 88th minute, with her sole effort, she saw Martyrs’ Daphine Nyayenga off the goal line and put a stunner in the top corner of the net and sent Football Queens into much awaited celebrations.

Uganda Martyrs had the most chances on the day to seal off their qualification after match day three but they were too blunt before the goal mouth, Catherine Nagadya, Spenser Nakacwa and Anitah Namata all had clear cut chances but converted none.
Their wastefulness sent them into a must win situation in their last group game which will come on Saturday at the same venue, FUFA Technical Center Njeru. They remained with six points in three games played so far.
The win means a lot to Kampala Queens especially their technical bench that has been on pressure.
Kampala Queens with two games remaining, they have returned back to calculations, if they win both of their last games, they stand a high chance of making it out of the group.

“The result was very important, we needed it, even a draw could not help us. But it’s not over yet, each game we have is a final, we need to win each game, to brighten our chances.
It’s good we have secured a clean sheet, but it’s not enough because Martyrs had many one on ones with our goal keeper, so we are going to improve on our defending and even the striking line, we have scored only one goal meaning we have a defeat of three goals” Shafic Mutebi, assistant coach Kampala Queens said after the game.
The Football Queens are still in fourth position with three points in two Games.
Tomorrow is a resting day they will come back in action on Friday as thy will be taking on Tooro Queens before close the group with a fixture against Makerere University on Saturday.
After beating Tooro Queens, Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC lipfrogged to top position, them Uganda Martyrs moved a place down to second position.
