Women Super League: UCU Lady Cardinals Eyeing for Title Ahead of Season Opener

Uganda Christian University Lady Cardinals are only eyeing for a title this season ahead of their opener against Olila High School WFC.

The 2019 FUFA Women’s Elite League Champions, UCU Lady Cardinals’ tactician, Christian Magoba revealed to this website as they are ready to play eye catching and winning Football this season as it is in their DNA.

Yesterday, the Cardinals held their maiden serious friendly match against new comers, She Maroons at Luzira Prison Grounds, the game they lost 1-0, thanks to Namuyomba Priscilla penalty that came in the 44th minute.

How, they are prepared for the first game on road, Coach Magoba says; “Since we have a number of injured players, we shall play conscious but what we know better is to use the ball and we are going to play it and win the three points.”

The last time UCU hosted the Soroti based side,Olila High, they former won it by 1-0.

Magoba revealed that it’s in their minds, to finish in top positions, they only thing they are aiming for this season is to win the title.

“It’s a norm for us to finish in top positions, despite the fact that we didn’t add in more players but the fans out their should expect good football and a trophy as well because we are working to be champions. ” He Said.

UCU Lady Cardinals squad still intact none of their players left the team expect Moureen Kinavudori who wasn’t with the team even last season.

Meanwhile, the counterparts and the hosts of the league opener, Olila High School WFC proved to be ready for the game despite the fact that they will miss their services of their super stars in Grace Aluka and Biira Nadunga who are with the National team U20 that  when to Ghana for the second leg of U20 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers. 

The league kick off on Sunday 6th February 2022 with four games.
