Women Football: FUFA Pays a Listening Hear, Answers Fratenity’s Cry With Joan Nabirye’s Maiden Call

At least for the past three years, the women’s football fraternity especially journalists have been asking the National teams, The Crested Cranes and U20 Technical benches to utilize the abilities of Joan Nabirye.

Finally, the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) answered the fraternity outcry with the summoning of the CAF CECAFA Zonal Qualifiers Tournament best defensive midfielder, Joan Nabirye.

Today, the Crested Cranes camp in FUFA Technical Center Njeru got a boost with the arrival of the Vihiga Queens and CECAFA Women’s Cup winner, Joan Nabirye.

“The Crested Cranes camp has this evening been boosted with the arrival of midfielder Joan Nabirye.

Nabirye played an integral part as Vihiga Queens of Kenya emerged Champions in the CAF Women’s Champions League Qualifiers (CECAFA Region).” a post on official FUFA Facebook page. 

For her national team maiden call, the Former Asubo-Gafford Ladies FC midfielder, Joan Nabirye couldn’t hide her happiness.

” I am so happy that the national team Coaches thought about me and gave me a chance to play for the national team.

I promise to offer my best, going to transfer my best performance I had on my club and in CECAFA Tournament to the national team.” Joan Nabirye

The Midfield gem joined other two foreign based players who are already in Camp, that is Sandra Nabweteme and Laki.

Joan now has a big task to fastly blend with the team if she is to make a cut to South Africa.

The Crested Cranes team entered camp at least two weeks back and the team will be leaving to South Africa before 28th September for the 2021 COSAFA Women’s Championship.
