Volleyball Cranes:New Head Coach, Omuriwe Shilla Names Provisional Squad For African Championship
The newly appointed head coach of Uganda Volleyball Men’s Senior team, the Volleyball Cranes, Shilla Omuriwe announced the provisional squad for the African Volleyball championship to be held between August and September either in Rwanda or Tunisia.
The African Nations Championship will also act as the qualifying tournament for the 2022 World Championship.
In the press conference held on Wednesday, 21, July 2021 at their offices at Lugogo, the newly appointed head coach the first ever Female Coach at the national men’s senior team, Shilla Omuriwe Buyungo announced the eight-man provisional squad that is entering the training camp next week.
With limited time the technical team has to sharp the squad before the event, Tactician asserted that they know the potential of the players they have on the list and in the few weeks they will have in the camp will be more at the Technical aspects.
“When we were discussing as the technical team we had to look at the time that we are given, we are hoping, next week to have boys in camp, the time we will be wth them, we shall try to utilize it well.
Once we get in camp, we shall be focusing on the Technical aspects, since we monitored some them in the previous tournament at Ndejje, some players from Nemo Stars had International tournament so we noted their strength and we know where to start from.” Shilla Omuriwe.
Sheila also named Aporu George as the team captain and he will be deputized by Okello Daudi.
