UTTA Should Enforce Better Facilities in Schools to Promoted Talented Table Tennis Students, Concerned Parent

The Uganda Table Tennis Association [UTTA] asked to to find all ways to promote the game of Table Tennis from grassroots.

Lack of facilities like Tables and good coaches has ragged table tennis game behind compared to other sports in the country the parent revealed.

Peninah Namulundu Sanya, 13, is a serious upcoming Table Tennis player.
The S.2 student at Muyenga Hill School in Kampala is also a member at Nakasero Table Tennis club.

Sanya dreams of becoming a better Table Tennis player through regular training sessions with the support of her parents and the Uganda Table Tennis Association (UTTA). 

“There is need to constantly train to become a better player. I plead with the UTTA president to organize more Holiday training camps so that we can train often” she appealed humbly to the Association and also the president of Table Tennis in Uganda to think about young players in future to represent the country.

Sanya was born to Steven Kamya Sanya and Salam Naludde; both of them have been supportive of their daughter to prosper in her Table Tennis career.
The father re-echoes the daughter’s need to train regularly so that she can become a top player.

“My daughter (Peninah) is a promising Table Tennis player but trains less. She only plays the game in Holidays and I have to drive her to Nakasero primary school to join her club. On days, I am unable, she does not travel. There is need for more support from UTTA to help such talented players” Sanya, the father states.
Sanya studied at Nakasero Primary School before joining Happy Hour primary school from where she completed her Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE).

In fact, she had to jump from primary five to primary seven; skipping primary six class as he got a second grade with 20 aggregates in the final primary leaving examinations.
Sanya yearns to be like her role model, Jemimah Nakawala who represented Uganda at the CommonWealth Games in Birmingham.

“My role model is Jemimah Nakawala. I want to be like her and also join the national team for international competitions” Sanya said “

With constant training under good coaches, Sanya is keen to polish her skills on the Table.
