Ug Decides2021: Kyagulanyi Suspends His Campaigns Following Ugly Incidents In Masaka
National Unity Platform principal and the party presidential flag bearer Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert suspended his campaigns until further notice following the ugly scenes in Masaka on Sunday morning where a Journalist Ashraf Kasirye of Gheto TV and Radio One was shot at.
“Presidential Candidate Robert Kyagulanyi aka @HEBobiwine has suspended his campaigns following today’s incident in which Ashraf Kasirye, a journalist working with Ghetto TV was allegedly shot at and critically injured.” NTV Uganda reported via their twitter handle.
Kyagulanyi was heading to Lwengo for his campaign meetings but on his way, the Police in Makaka blocked him and during the scuffle a Ghetto media TV journalist, Ashraf Kasirye was shot at on head and other journalists like NBSTV’s Daniel Lutaaya and Ali Mivule of NTV were also injured and currently nursing wounds in different hospitals in Masaka.
As we speak, Kyagulanyi and his team are transporting Ashraf Kasirye to Kampala for further treatment because he is still in critical condition.
Via his social media handles, Kyagulanyi said;
“Ashraf Kasirye, a journalist with Ghetto TV & good friend shot on the head by police as they blocked me! He is in a critical condition. We are hoping against hope that he will live. Gen. Museveni and the criminals he orders to kill us will have to account for these atrocities.”
