State Minister Obua, ‘Misses a Prestigious Trip on Chartered Plane’ as Japanese Police Finds Vanished Ssekitoleko

Reports from Tokyo indicates that the vanished Ugandan Weightlifter, Julius Ssekitoleko finally handed himself to Japanese Police after four days of missing.

Ssekitoleko went missing on Friday last week after he failed to turn up for a routine Covid-19 test as the teams in Japan prepare for 2020 Tokyo Olympic games set to start on 23th this month.

The 20-year-old turned himself in to a police station in Mie Prefecture, more than three hours’ drive and an 11-hour trip on public transport from his previous hotel base in Izumisano on Tuesday.

Ssekitoleko left a note in his accommodation room in Izumisano Osaka saying he hoped to work in Japan because life is difficult in Uganda.

Yesterday, state Minister for Foreign Affairs Hon Henry Okello Oryem revealed to media that they are going to do whatever, it takes to find vanished Ssekitoleko and Hon. Hamson Obua was set to charter a plane to Japan in search for the weightlifter.

Now it’s not clear whether the government’s plan for the minister to travel to Japan will remain on course or cut short.

For starters, Ssekitoleko lost out on a slot in the 67Kg weight category at the global games, Ssekitoleko was due to return home this week.
