The Uganda Premier League side,NEC FC has dumped the big league club, Police FC out of the 50th Edition of Stanbic Uganda Cup.
The UPL newcomers fought no serious challenge from Big league table leaders to win the first quarter final 0-2 in the game honored on Eid day at Kavumba Recreation Ground in Wakiso District.
Goal poacher, Cromwell Rwothomio handed the visitors a lead as early as three minutes into the game.
The first stanza ended 0-1 in the favor of the visitors who also had the biggest possession of the ball in the entire 45 minutes.
Gadafi Wahab doubled the lead for the Mbalangu charges via a spot kick, substitute, Marvin Kavuma was brought down in the area and the centre referee awarded the penalty to NEC which was converted by Wahab in the 78th minute.
The win moved NEC to their maiden semifinal of the Stanbic Uganda Cup.
The action will continue on Saturday with two fixtures when former champions, BUL and KCCA will lock horns at FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru and Pajule Lions will be hosting Pakwach Young Stars.
The last quarter final fixture will be held on Sunday in Masindi where Kitara FC will play host Sports Club Villa.
