Ssekiboobo Cup: Nyonga Strikes as Mutuba IV Kawuga Edges Mutuba VII Kawolo

The weekend two of the Ssekiboobo Cup climaxed on Sunday, 11, February at Bishops Senior School playground Mukono with one fixture. 

The hosting sub county [Gombolola], Mutuba IV Kawuga edged the visitors with a goal to none, thanks to Nyonga Sadam second half headed that sunk Mutuba VII Kawolo.

Kawuga secured the three important points at the game that was graced by the Buganda Kingdom Sports Minister Owek. Robert Sserwanga Ssalongo. 

The goal came in the 72nd minute, thanks to Ssekabira Grace well laid cross from the left flank, Nyonga Sadam met the cross in the right position to put the ball at the end of the back.

Despite losing, Kawolo also put up a strong performance though they were not clinical especially in the early minutes of both halves. 

Minister before gracing the game, early in the day, he visited a number of different youths in Mukono Town and he encouraged them to continue with their hands on jobs that will see them changing their lives positively.

“today early in the morning we had to visit youth projects that are being done in Mukono as a way of showcasing, giving encouragement, supporting and also sharing knowledge with a few tips, here and there to make sure that their businesses flourish. We were into businesses that are agro-enterprises, those in fruit growing.” Says Minister. 

Minister also commented about the tournament.

“Today we’re coming to the third week of the Gombolola Cup competitions in Buganda which involves 175 sub counties, and giving a forum to over 4375 players, those are the ones we expect to play in this tournament.” Says Minister. 

The Ssekiboobo of Kyaggwe [County Chief] Elijah Bogere Lubanga Mulembya thanked Minister and Buganda for the initiative.

“We want to thank the Minister for this initiative, in all areas where these games are being played, they have embraced them. I want to thank the Minister again, he gave us the whole day and even visited the youths in Mukono and inspected their work.

As Kyaggwe this time round, we’re going to use the players from Kyaggwe, the players who have the county at heart, I have realized that we have talented players in our area.” Said Elijah Bogere Lubanga Mulembya, the Ssekiboobo of Kyaggwe.

The Mutuba IV Kawuga captain, Lule Juma asserted that their target is to see that at least they get one player representing them at this year’s Sazza team.

The games will resume next weekend at various grounds.
