At Kati Kati Restaurant Lugogo, on Friday Evening, Pilsner in conjunction with the UPL awarded Fred Amaku and Jackson Magera Kaddu as the best performers of the month of December.

Maroons FC goal poacher, Fred Amaku scored three goals in five games in the month of December and beat off Vipers’ Milton Karisa and Busoga United’s Tibita Laban to take the Accolade of the best player of the month.

While speaking to this website after winning the accolade and one million shillings token of appreciation, Amaku expressed his excitement and highlighted that his Maroons community is proud of him.

“I feel very happy to win this award since it has always been my dream. I thank the organizer of this award for rewarding the excellent talent in Uganda” Amaku noted “as it has happened, I will keep going, I think my people at Maroons are happy because I have represented them well.” Fred Amaku

Magera was voted best coach of December for guiding SC Villa to three wins in four games.

He beat off competition from BUL FC Alex Isabirye and KCCA’s Morley Byekwaso. The pair had the same wins in December, but in five games.

“I am feeling very grateful, we are 15 coaches in the league, being the one here it means a lot to me, it’s one of my greatest achievement in the coaching career, I believe my people at Villa feel good of this ” soft-spoken Magera said.

At the same event, StarTimes Uganda Vice Chairman Aldrine Nsubuga confirmed that StarTimes will introduce their weekly Awards starting with the upcoming second round which will kick off on 9th February.

In his address, the VP asserted that they have introduced the fan’s weekly best 11, fantasy football and weekly best player.

He continued; “Today we are here because we think you going to see a change in second round.

For second round we decided to have a theme that is going to run, by this time, at least six clubs have a chance to win the title, the race is still tight. So we and media we want to promote this slogan a d theme; the race is on, it’s anybody’s title. We believe if we promote the second round as a race to the finish, we will create a spirit of expectation among the fan’s and the teams.”

Nsubuga appealed to media to promote the theme to create more anxiety among the fans. He has also revealed that in second round, some games will be on floodlights especially at Lugogo and Kitende.
