Pepsi UFL Semifinal Draws: We’re to break the Barrier against UMU, Says UCU’s Tactician

Semifinal Draws:

St Lawrence University vs Kyambogo University 

Uganda Christian University vs Uganda Martyrs University

On the afternoon of Thursday at Kati Kati Restaurant Lugogo, the semifinal draws for the 10th edition of University Football League were held and defending champion, Uganda Christian University fell in the lane of his tormentor.

The defending champions, UCU drawn against the 2017 champions, Uganda Martyrs University Nkozi, while St Lawrence, the only side at this stage with no league time fell in the hands of the 2018 champions, Kyambogo University.

This will be the eighth and ninth time, UCU and UMU meeting since 2014 but at knockout stage, Ahumuza Collins charges have never eliminated Uganda Martyrs.

However, the only lady tactician in the University League, Collins Ahumuza believes much in her boys and the preparations made before this level and she is confident that this time round they are to break the barriers and defend their title.

“I don’t despise the draw, every team at this level is strong, UMU is a bully to use, we have been making a number of draws and lost some matches against them. However, I believe in my team and the preparations we have made prior to this level, I am confident we shall defend our title.” Says Ahumuza Collins, UCU Tactician after the draws.

For starters, Uganda Martyrs University to win the only title they have in the league, they went past UCU at quarterfinal level, and on three occasions that’s is 2015, 2016 and 2017, they denied UCU a semifinal chance.

“It’s a good draw, we are playing against an organized side and the defending champion, true history does favor us but this is current thing, so we need to work hard and see that we get the result that we need. ” UMU tactician, Eric Kisuze. 

In the other draw, St Lawrence will be the first to host Kyambogo University who painfully eliminated MUBS at quarterfinal level.

The first leg of the first fixture will be honored on Tuesday 18th October and the next fixture will be on Thursday 20th, the same month.

This level is at a home and away basis.
