Pepsi UFL: Lasu Thomas Lifts MUBS Again against Unlucky IUIU

The right back, Lasu Thomas again won Makerere University Business School three points in the Pepsi University Football League like he did it against YMCA in their opening fixture at Buwambo Campus playground.
MUBS beat Islamic University in Uganda 1-0 in the a tough game played on Tuesday afternoon at MUBS Arena Nakawa.
The only goal for Lasu was a difference in the game.
Despite losing the game on road, IUIU was the unlucky side on the day because they did get all the chances to go back to Mbale smiling with three points.
The Harunah Keba boys had the chance to go in the lead at half hour mark, Onongo Denis had a powerful free kick 40 yards from goal to which keeper, Andrew Otyeng fumbled with, Tamusula Ismail had a rebound at the back of the net but he was flagged offside and goal cancelled.
First stanza went barren.
In the 53rd minute, MUBS won a penalty after IUIU defender had a handball in the area, it’s converted by Lasu Thomas and sent fans into celebration at the 54th minute. Lasu is the only player have scored for MUBS this edition.
IUIU who had the control of the midfield, continued to demand for their first away goal and on at least three occasions that goal was close to them but MUBS custodian Andrew Otyeng had to save one and back made two important clearances off the goal line and the most notable is the free kick that beat Andrew but was headed out of the goal by defender Turyamuhaki Denis in the 87th minute.
The two time champions moved on top of the table with six points in two games while IUIU dropped to second place with three points.

“We got the win and we worked for it, it wasn’t a simple game but the strategy was to get three points and we got them and we are on top of the table.
“Yes we create few chances and our scoring rate is totally low but we are working upon it, this game has been a very good example and lesson for the boys and the team, we are going to work upon that and we expect to score more goals in our next match

“The loss that we gone through is very painful because it was quite evident we had a better game, we lost many chances, we were just unfortunate but our team was good and I am happy for that, we are going to improve especially the last touch at goal.”

The league will resume on Thursday when the 2018 champions, Kyambogo University will be hosting Muni University at Kyambogo.
