Over 2600 People with Disability to Benefit from National Special Grants Program

Ministry of gender,labour and social development says a total of 2656 PWD groups are to benefit from the national special grants program.

Hon Asamo Hellen Grace the minister of state for disability affairs,ministry of gender,labour and social development said the PWDs had requested for an increment in the allocation of the national special grants to 17bn to cater for the 31 local governments that had not benefited from the grant and this was enhanced from 9bn to 16.6bn in FY 2022-2023.

Minister added that this will reach to over 16000 house holds country wide.

Minister said this while briefing media at media centre about the celebrations of international day of persons with disabilities which will be celebrated on 3rd December 2022 at Okole primary school play ground in Kole district under the theme: “leadership and mind set change”.

Meanwhile minister says PWDs have been allocated 10% of the PDM funds and they can access these funds through their PDM SACCOS
