Olympics || Boxing: Muhangi’s Promised Cash Survives as the Last Bomber Suffers Defeat
Its hard luck for team Uganda, so far no Ugandan has registered any pleasant results in the Olympic games underway in Tokyo Japan.
The rower, Kathleen Noble and three bombers all defeated and Uganda’s hope to register Olympic win in boxing extended to the next Olympics.
Before leaving to Tokyo, the Uganda’s Boxing Federation president, Moses Muhangi made pledges and promised to teasing prize money for any good results in the games.
While visiting the bombers camp in June, which was in Kavumba Recreation Centre, Muhangi promised one million shillings, cash to any bomber to register maiden win for Uganda since 2004 in Athens.
But the boys and a girl who were in Tokyo won’t even have a look at the paper since they lost all their first fights.
Cathrine Nanziri was the first one to suffer the defeat before David Kavuma Ssemujju followed the same route.
The last hope for Uganda was remained in Bombers captain Shadir Musa Bwogi but also went in vain, he lost Georgia’s Madiev Eskerkhan at their round of 16 bout held on Tuesday at Kokugikan Arena in Tokyo.

Meanwhile, the last bomber to go beyond their first bout at the Olympics was lightweight Sam Rukundo who manages the feat at the 2004 games in Athens, Greece
And the last bomber to win an Olympic medal is John ‘The Beast’ Mugabi at the 1980 games in Moscow.
