The Uganda Christian University Netball Club finally honored their maiden season fixtures on Saturday at Prison Grounds Luzira.

The Mukono girls were handed a sour welcome from the two League giants, they had two games on card yesterday, against current league champions NIC and Prisons Netball Club and the former registered no win.

UCU didn’t start the league with other clubs reason they are University students, couldn’t report back in time due to Covid restrictions on education institutions but yesterday they had to honor the two fixtures at once and lost both of them.

Their game against NIC opened up the action packed day, UCU lost 66-33 against NIC before 35-55 loss against Prisons.

The club captain, Nakato Bridget Prudence asserted that she is happy with the performance they displayed despite the two back to back losses, the Christian girls expected more wrath from the already have been in action clubs and the big sides in the league.

The matter of fact we played well, we are not like other clubs that we have been together, we are students have have just reported back, we trained for less than two weeks, the kind of fitness we have, I didn’t expect to loss on such small margin, I thought we are going to lose maybe with 80 plus goals” Nakato Bridget speaks.

We are a good team, we have all qualities and I believe when we train and get fitness like the other teams have, we ate going to do better.” She added.

Nelson James Bogere, UCU tactician, like his student, He is happy with the performance of his girls and not bothered about the two losses.

I am happy with the performance of my girls, for over two years they were not on court, I came knowing that such results might happen because I played the best two clubs in the league [NIC and Prisons].

In the first game I didn’t play well but this second game, there was improvement and I am happy. ” Bogere.

Weyonje vs Posta

In the other games, Police extended their Unbeaten run to four games after beating struggling UPDF 63-42 while Weyonje comfortably beat Posta 67-38.

With the league returning next weekend, NIC still top the table with eight points, Police, Prisons in second and third place but with uniform points to those of NIC but with low goal difference.

Sharp shooter, Stella Oyella of NIC still on the top of scorers’ chart with 149 goals followed by Police’s Namukose Specioza with 112 goals.
