Netball: Like Micheal Scofield, Mugerwa Tabale Back in Part two as She Cranes Tactician

The Uganda Netball Federation has unveiled Salongo Fred Mugerwa Tabale as the National team, the She Cranes Tactician for the next two years.

This is the first of it’s kind in the game of Netball in Uganda for a National Team coach to have a contract.

Tabale is returning at that position for the second stint, he was once at the National team in until 2014 and he was the first Tactician to qualify Uganda to Netball World Cup (2015), save the first appearance in 1979.

The federation president, Omulongo Babirye Kityo Sarah, on Wednesday afternoon, at the Federation offices located at Aga Khan Building Old Kampala announced Fred Mugerwa as head Coach and he is to be assisted by two Ladies in Namuddu Sarah and Harriet Kabuye.

 “After going through all the processes of getting a national team Coaches, today I announce, Salongo Fred Mugerwa Tabale as the head coach of Uganda National Netball team,  the She Cranes head coach on a contract of two years.” President Babirye Kityo Sarah Unveiled Tabale before press. 

For starters, the federation announced the vacancy at She Cranes head coach role in July this year, many applied, and in August, the shortlisted 19 candidates went through job interviews for two days.

Today Tabale managed to win the job and his first task is to take the She Cranes in Africa Netball Championship to be held in Namibia between 28rh October and 16th November 2021.

“I am back to finish unfinished business” Tabale said before adding. “I am the person who qualified  Uganda to world cup in 2015, we were not known in this game, but after that world cup, things changed.

What I can say I am back to finish unfinished business, I am ready to work with or without money. We need to move another step from where we are.” 

Fred also point blank revealed why the previous Executive sacked him immediately after qualifying Uganda to world cup in 2014.

With malice they sacked me, they saw me as someone who is not on their side, I am always on side of players, because if they don’t perform, I can’t be a good Coach, that’s why I want them to be treated well. So since I was on players side, the executive used all tricks to see that they drop me.

They told me that the International Federation asked them to sack me which was not true because I followed up the case. ” Outspoken Mugerwa told this website.
