Netball: Here We come Dad, Newly Elected UNF Executive Pays Courtesy Visit to NCS General
The newly elected leadership of Uganda Netball Federation is working tooth and nail to fit into the the new office.
The executive paid a courtesy visit to National Council of Sports head Office at Lugogo on Thursday, to tap blessings and guidance from the mother body.
The Contingent of over six UNF members had a meeting of over four hours in the boardroom with the Council’s General Secretary, Patrick Bernard Ogwel and the President of the game of Netball, Hon. Sarah Babirye Kityo revealed that as newbies in system, they learnt alot from the top boss.
“As newcomers, we needed alot of guidance and information to do with the Netball and Sports world, we have been taken through alot, we were given a lot, everything we needed, now we have where to start from, we thank them alot.” Sarah Babirye Kityo told this website after the meeting.
Babirye says, they are going to have a retreat as an executive and they are to work on a three-year workplan as well as looking into the budget which was already submitted in by the outgoing government.
“We are going to look at the budget the previous Executive has submitted, we have alot to do, can’t tell everything here but we are going to have an executive meeting to see how to amend things, the good thing they have given us chance to adjust it.” She said.
The National Council of Sports, General Secretary, Patrick Bernard Ogwel also hinted on what transpired in the meeting he had with the new Netball Federation Executive.

“It’s always important when the new government comes in, we provide guidance, I want to appreciate them that they were too fast to demand for the meeting so that we are able to guide them. We had a very successful meeting and discussed more in terms of roadmap.” Said Ogwel before adding.
“We also reminded ourselves that Netball is a big brand for this country, unlike any other sports federations, going to world cup three times, have not seen this for football, Volleyball or any other discipline. We also noted that Netball family has not tapped this brand into the monitory value it can bring, we looked at a roadmap, and how to get talent.
We reminded them about the Commonwealth games, Africa Championship and the U21 world cup, so we told them not to go back and sit in their office but to start early preparations.” Ogwel explained.
The new Executive has limited time to amend and to fit in to the void left by the outgoing executive.
The outgoing executive of Susan Anek left the league posed, in August Uganda has to feature in the Netball Africa Championship to be held in Namibia.
