Mutalaga Community Shield: DC United ‘Pour Cold Water’ at Hot Star, Wins 2024 Edition

The 7th edition champions of Mutalaga Christmas Cup, DC United wins the 2024 Mutalaga Community Shield after edging Hot Star FC in the encounter honored on Sunday at Lweza Playground, Entebbe road.
George Kaddu brace in the second half of the game was enough for Mutalaga funded side to come from a goal down and win the game 2-1.
The former Buweekula Sazza forward, Nsereko Abdul Junior handed Hot Star a lead in the 19th minute with a simple tap in and first stanza ended with Hot Star in the lead.
Kaddu came off the bench and leveled for the eventual champions, he converted from the spot kick in the 56th before returning in the 77th minute to separate the tie with a thunderbolt strike from the left flanker.
The two goals were enough for DC United to win the community shield that came with a prize money of one million shillings.
The tournament sponsor, Frank Mutalaga also watched the game and awarded the winner with the shield, medals and one million shillings cash.
“I continue to state this, I started this tournament for you the youths, the tournament is here for you to enjoy as a fan and the grow your talent as a player, the tournament is here for you the business woman and man who sell items, so let’s embrace it, I will not bring security here, it’s the security of this tournament, keep the product that brings you joy safe.” Said Frank Mutalaga before awarding the winners.
The losing finalist, Hot Star FC won a sliver medal and 500,000/-.
The 2024 edition that has 80 teams pitted in sixteen is set to kick off today (Monday) with two fixtures at Lweza Playground.
