Masaza Cup: Buddu Fans Link their Loss Against Busiro to Kabaka’s Absence, Katikkiro Reveals Why His Majesty Didn’t Grace the Final

It has been a norm in Masaza Cup since they got a new shape in 2004 that Kabaka been gracing the final of the tournament but in 2022 final held at Muteesa II stadium Wankulukuku on Saturday, His Majesty didn’t fulfill that.

This left many wondering where the Kabaka is; and the Buddu fans to pick a consolation, after losing 2-1 to Busiro who won their maiden title after a number of attempts, claiming that if Buddu won, other Counties would say that why the Katikkiro who is from Masaka award a trophy to Buddu.

“When we found out the our Kabaka will not grace this final, we decided to let Busiro win as we wait for Kabaka, we embrace only Kabaka’s hands not others, actually if we won and Katikkiro awarded us the trophy, people would say that we cheated because Katikkiro is from Masaka, so we don’t win when Kabaka is not around.” Some Buddu fans consoled.

However, after awarding the trophy to Busiro who are not ‘discriminative’, Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga held a post match press briefing at Wankulukuku where he revealed to public that Kabaka is not in the country, he left last month and the reasons as to why he went there are not yet completed.

“We have just witnessed the final of Masaza Cup, and I take this opportunity to congratulate Busiro for winning their first trophy since the reintroduction of the tournament in 2004 but I also congrats Buddu for being runners and coming to the final for three consecutive years” Katikkiro started.

“As you have witnessed, Ssabadajja Kabaka is not here as it has been a norm, he went out of the country on 22nd of February and the reasons for which he went out we’re not yet finalized so he couldn’t return in time for finals but he sent his greetings to the winner a s runners up.” Katikkiro confirmed.

Katikkiro also thanked the fans for exercise maximum discipline and he asked players to continue having a professional attitude towards the game and maintain discipline and he believes sky would be the limit for them.

Still waiting to see if Kabaka will grace the finals of Bika Bya Baganda on Saturday this coming week at Muteesa II stadium Wankulukuku.
