Masaza Cup 2024: Gomba Lions Want the 6th Title, Officially Launch the Campaign

 

On Sunday, The Gomba “lions” Sazza football team launched the search for the sixth title and the event was held at Kabulasoke Primary Teachers College amidst the ground flooded with supporters.

The team chairman Robert Barigye through the team spokes person Mbatide Resty Namulema, announced a total of 30 players in the camp as the selection of the required 25 as per the laws governing the tournament still underway.

On the same note, Frank Mulindwa was also officially unveiled as the team head coach with other four members including Edward Goloola as the Technical Director. 

The team held a practice match with Busujju Sazza football team as the host came victors by 1-0 with Simbwa Micheal scoring the lone goal in the game.

An executive of 9 members has been also unveiled to the Gombanians headed by Robert Barigye to oversee the works of the team this year.

Barigye while talking to the media called upon potential sponsors to come out with what they can to support the team’s mission of winning the 6th Title.

“We thank everybody who has managed to support us in anyway possible like food, water, kits, medication and financially, but I also take this opportunity to call out loud all potential sponsors who would like to side with the winning team to look no further but Gomba Sazza team as they will not regret” Robert Barigye said.

Gomba will play Kyagwe sazza team on Sunday 30th-6-2024 as their opening game which is also a must win for coach Frank Mulindwa since it’s his first game in charge of the legends of the tournament.

Gomba Sazza team holds the record of the most decorated team with five trophies on its name and one for keeps.

For starters, last season Gomba fell short to meet their target when they lost the final 1-0 against the reigning champions, Bulemeezi.
