Maroons FC have moved to strengthen their defence with the signing of versatile defender Mubiru Faizol, who joins the club from Entebbe UPPC after his contract expired.

The 5’9″ left footed defender arrives with the ability to operate both as a left back and in central defence, giving Maroons an important defensive option as they look to build a more organised and competitive side.

Faizol’s game is built around his strength in one on one situations and high pressing, while his speed in decision making him a valuable addition to the Maroons backline.

Beyond his individual qualities, Maroons are also counting on his leadership and organisational abilities.

The club expects Faizol to bring structure to the defensive unit, with his versatility allowing the technical team to adjust their backline depending on the demands of each game.

His football journey began in the academy ranks with African Tigers, before taking him through Kiyinda Boys, Protap FC in Malaysia,Gold Agents, Entebbe FC and Entebbe UPPC, where he played last season.

His performances at UPPC earned him a move to Maroons, with the club viewing him as a priority addition rather than simply another squad option.

Faizol also brings an interesting dimension away from the pitch. He serves as Sports Director at his grandfather’s Kampala University, a role he will have to balance alongside his professional football career at Maroons.

That dual responsibility means Faizol will be combining his experience as a player with his administrative and leadership responsibilities at the university.

For Maroons, however, the immediate priority is on the pitch. They believe Faizol can provide the defensive stability, leadership and flexibility required to strengthen a backline capable of competing at a higher level.

With his ability to play across the backline, left-footed profile, pace in decision-making and experience from different football environments, Mubiru Faizol could prove to be one of Maroons’ important pieces as they assemble their squad for the new campaign.

The move represents a calculated addition for Maroons a player capable of filling more than one role and potentially solving a missing piece in the team’s defensive puzzle.
