Kayunga Residents on Get Set, Over 600 To Receive Food Relief

Kayunga District is not among the Districts that are benefiting from Nabanja’s ka money (government Covid Relief Money) the selected Ugandans are currently receiving.

The categories of people getting that COVDI-19 relief money are also in Kayunga but not catered for, basing on that and research made, the Kayunga Community Club came up with a campaign dubbed save the Hungry Soul that was targeting to at least 700 Kayunga households which are in poor state.

The campaign of collected food relief started at the eve of this month, fortunately the first batch of 100 households in Kangulumira each received 5kg of maize floor.

The campaign is climaxing tomorrow, Sunday and the residents of Kayunga Town Council and Ntenjeru North are the big beneficiaries.

For starters, the people to receive this COVID-19 food relief are categorized in this manner; people with disabilities, widows, boda boda cyclists, Taxi drivers and Conductors, mechanics and people in a seriously starving families.

According to project coordinator, Joseph Mukiibi, they have identified families that are to receive this food, Kayunga Town Council has eight villages and each will have 30 households to benefit.

The Community Club has identified 40 taxi drivers, 40 taxi conductors, 40 boda boda cyclists, 40 mechanics and 40 people with disabilities. 

The other category identified in whole Ntenjeru North, the project coordinator revealed that they found out that many widows in this Constituency are needy and decided to select the 115 widows who are going to receive this food relief.

Joseph Mukiibi, the Project coordinator, thanked all the well wishers and the community club members who fought tooth and nail to see that over 600 households are to be saved in this lockdown.
