Kawempe Muslims, St Noa in Spotlight as Finance Trust Women Super League Returns for Second Round
The Finance Trust FUFA Women Super League returns this weekend with the giants Kawempe Muslims setting the pace as the second round of the 2025/2026 season kicks off across the country.
After nearly two months of recess, topflight women’s football resumes on 21st and 22nd February, with attention firmly fixed on table leaders Kawempe Muslims as they seek to tighten their grip at the summit with a challenge from St Noa Girls at Muteesa II stadium.
League leaders Kawempe Muslims head into the second round sitting comfortably on 28 points, and victory this weekend would stretch their tally to 31 as they continue their push for another title.
The defending champions of the 2023/2024 season have enjoyed a commanding first round campaign, registering nine wins, one draw, and just one defeat. Their only setback came at the hands of Makerere University Ladies, but otherwise the Kawempe side has looked dominant in all departments.
They face St Noah at Wakulukuku Stadium on Saturday, determined to maintain momentum in the title race.
Kawempe have further boosted their squad with the signing of midfielder Zaina Nambozo from Asubo, adding energy to an already strong unit that includes Kulthum Namutebi, Agnes Nabukenya, and Dorcus Kisakye.
Upfront, the prolific duo of Jovia Nakagolo and Latifa Nakasi has been instrumental, combining for 10 goals in the first round. Their sharpness in front of goal will once again be key as Kawempe seek maximum points.
St Noah, currently seventh with 13 points, will be aiming to upset the leaders on home soil. They have strengthened their squad with new additions including Sumayiya Nalumu, Marion Serenge, and Martha Babirye as they look to climb the table. The reverse fixture ended 2-1 in favour of Kawempe Muslims.
At St Gerald Stadium, Kiddalime Ladies host Masindi-based Lady Doves in a fixture that carries significant weight, particularly for the visitors.
Lady Doves, who impressed during the 2024/2025 season, now find themselves eighth on the log and in need of consistency to avoid slipping further. Despite boasting one of the league’s top scorers, defensive lapses have cost them valuable points.
Kiddalime Ladies, meanwhile, have recovered from a slow start to collect 13 points and will look to build on their recent improvement with a positive result at home.
In Soroti, Olila host Makerere University Ladies at Olila Grounds in what could prove decisive at both ends of the table. Olila are yet to secure a win this season and are desperate to turn their fortunes around in front of their home supporters.
Makerere University Ladies, the only side to defeat Kawempe Muslims in the first round, remain unpredictable but dangerous. They will be targeting all three points to strengthen their position as the second round gathers momentum.
