FWSL: One Force Still Armless, Kawempe Returns to Winning Ways with a Clean Sheet on Road
Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC returned to Winning ways with a 2-0 victory on road against struggling She Maroons FC.
The match day five of the FUFA Women’s Super League honored at Prison Grounds Luzira on Sunday afternoon, saw Phiona Nabulime and defender Asia Nakibuuka on target for Kawempe to collect their second win of the season in four played games.
Kawempe’s goals came as early as 10th and 14th minutes of first stanza.
After ten minutes of play, Phiona Nabulime who earned her first start for Kawempe gave the visitors a lead with a sweet press inside the box, thanks to Shakira Nyinagahirwa brilliant pass, that came after Maroons defense failed to clear off the ball from the area.
Four minutes later, the Valley Warriors through Asia Nakibuuka, got a second goal, following a reckless Goalkeeping from the One Force custodian. The girl in goal posts failed to handle the would be a cross brought in by Asia Nakibuuka from the left flank. The ball went off her hands and went into the back of the net for Kawempe to count it 2-0 just before a quarter an hour.
With that error, Sida, She Maroons tactician was forced to put custodian Jackline Adong off the pitch and replaced her with Esther Akujo.
Maroons who haven’t registered any victory this season, tried to get a consolation before half time but Kawempe with Ayubu Khalifa Kiyingi on touchline looked to be very impenetrable.
In second stanza, Kiyingi introduced four fresh legs, in Allen Nassazi and Halima Kampi in for Stella Musibika who looked not good on the day.
However, with seven minutes to fulltime, Ayubu put off Allen Nassazi for Agnes Nabukenya.
She Maroons changes in Jackie Nassazi, Millicent Mwanzi and Mwoga Phiona tried to make impact on the pitch but again Shakira Nankwanga and captain Aisha Nantongo worked beautifully good to kill Maroons launched attacks and finally the first half scores won three points for Kawempe.
“The girls played not that good, somethings have been lacking but winning a game away from home is good for us.” Said Ayubu Khalifa.
In five games played, She Maroons has only one point and currently sits on the bottom of the table of ten teams.
In previous games played on Saturday, She Corporate continued with it’s unbeaten run with a 2-1 away win against UCU Lady Cardinals, Kampala Queens at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium in Wakiso beat the home side Rines SS WFC 3-0 and as usual, Tooro Queens registered their fifth consecutive draw in the league against Olila High School WFC.
