By: Uwizera Plan
Saturday 8th, October 2022:_
Result: Kampala Queens 4-1 Uganda Martyrs.
Resty Nanziri netted a brace as Kampala Queens ran riot to register a resounding and deserved 4-1 win over Uganda Martyrs Ladies in a match played on a rainy Saturday morning at IUIU in Kabojja.
Nanziri scored the two goals in the 10th and 26th minute taking her season tally to four. She scored her first after a brilliant display from Margaret Kunihira, when the latter easily went past Uganda Martyrs defender, Jakie Nambasa.
Sixteen minutes after her first goal, Nanziri doubled the lead for the ‘Palace Queens’ (Kampala Queens) after benefiting from a precise corner taken by Kunihira. The Martyrs’ defenders failed to control and clear off the ball, which found Nanziri in the right position to put the ball into the net and getting the crowd wild.
Hasifa Nassuna also rose to the occasion, scoring her second goal in a Kampala Queens jersey and the third for the team on the day in the 45th minute, after utilizing Shakira’s ball into the box to score from close range.
Zaina Namuleme buried any lingering hopes of Uganda Martyrs getting a point from this game in the 57th minute, when she scored from close range to make it 4-0 for the Queens, after the Martyrs’ defenders failed to clear the ball away from the box.
In the 67th minute, Latifa Nakasi scored her fourth goal of the season, as she pulled one back for Martyrs, after obtaining a precise ball from Kevin Nakacwa to put the ball past Queens’ goalkeeper, Daisy Nakaziro.
The result takes Kampala Queens to twelve (12) points from four matches so far played, three points ahead of the second placed team, UCU Lady Cardinals who have one game in hand.
This means that Kampala Queens and Uganda Christian University Lady Cardinals are the only two clubs that still have a perfect start to the season.
