FWSL: Another Fall for Kawempe as Rines Complete a Double
The women’s football powerhouse in Uganda, Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC approaching a stage of accepting that the 2021/22 season is a damaged one.
The results are not coming their way even on the day they look better.
The Ayubu Khalifa Kiyingi coached side lost their second consecutive game after a 2-1 defeat against relegation battling Rines SS WFC in an epic encounter enjoyed at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium in Wakiso.
Like they conceded a kiddish like opening goal against Kampala Queens at the Valley when they lost 4-3, again the same goal conceded against Rines, 17 minutes into first stanza.
Joan Ainembabazi gave the hosts an early lead with a powerful shot, that Juliet Adeke failed to firmly handle it, went off her hands and hit the back of the net to send the spectators into jubilation.
Before Ainembabazi’s goal, Kawempe through blunt Aisha Nantongo had a chance to go first but failed, Nantongo came back in the 31st minute and converted a penalty from a rebound, Elsie Najjemba had saved the first penalty take.
Aisha Nantongo had another open chance to hand Kawempe a lead two minutes to the break, like she did before, she dodged the goalie, remained with an empty net in a tight angle and struck off the target.
Eight minutes into second half, Rines won a penalty that was converted by Eva Naggayi but with rebound, Juliet Adeke saved the first take.
More chances were created in the following minutes but none of the sides was sharp to add on the first three scored goals.
The result meant that Rines for the first time in history, completed a double against Kawempe.
“I am happy that I collected 6 points against Kawempe this season, I believe Kawempe is a powerhouse in Uganda’s Women football.
The girls followed the instructions, we had a serious talk with the girls before and today they have executed, they played with love and determination.” Said Bright Tadeo Nyanzi.
Despite the win, Rines are still on bottom of the table but is not moved.
“We had six games, now remaining with five, the target is to win at least 5 or all and see how we will finish.”
Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC registered their seventh loss of the season, the worst season for Kawempe ever.
“We conceded a lousy goal which gave the hosts a confidence and we missed alot of chances then in second half we were punished with a penalty which is to me wasn’t, we conceded again. But it’s not over, still have five games to go, and we shall remain focused.” Coach Nkata Moses told this website after the game.
In other day results, She Corporate lost it’s unbeaten run to Lady Doves after a 5-0 defeat in Masindi, UCU Lady Cardinals at home beat Tooro Queens 3-1 while Uganda Martyrs, Kampala Queens share spoils of a 2-2 scoreline.
The league will return this weekend with match day 14 fixtures.
