Futsal: What’s Inside FAU’s Four-Year Strategic Plan Dubbed “The Game Changer”
On Friday 10th September 2021, Futsal Association of Uganda revealed their Strategic plan 2021-2025 dubbed ‘The Game Changer’ at Fufa House, Mengo.
Futsal is game that started in 2015 by Hamza Jjunju who is the current Chairman of the Association.
The four year strategic plan that is to run between 2021-2025 has seven key areas to work upon.
Governance: FAU asserts that they will not only settle for governance but to strive for good governance as they will implement the principles of corporate governance across the Association.
Financial sustainability: The targets to work hard to have a good financial management as they believe it’s the key to achieve the goal.
Marketing: FAU is aiming to grow a brand that will attract more stakeholders into the game and with good corporation, they believe that by 2024, they will have 5 major sponsors and 5 major partners on board.
Women In Futsal: In their four year strategic plan, the Association want see more women involved in their game as players, referees, administrators. By September 2022.Futsal will have the Futsal Women Super League, this is according to Kuluthum Najjuma (Excom member).
“We are to ensure that we go to the communities to look for women who can play Futsal and we are to train women to become referees and administrators“. Said Kuluthum Najjuma.
Competitions: Without competitions, the game can’t be in existence, so the Association is planning to use different competitions as a way to ensure that players from all diversities are at the core of everything they do.
Futsal National Teams: For six years, since the game was invented in Uganda, Futsal had no National team, but while launching their strategic plan, FAU revealed that they are going to have different age categories of National Teams for both Women and men from U15, U17, U23 and Senior teams.

“Having national teams, we have to be with professional technical people and we’re going to play a supporting role with FUFA to have the those people, I ensure public that we’re going to do our best to achieve the goals of professionallising the game“. Ibrahim Mugera.
Facilities: This is a challenge to sports in Uganda but the association asserted that they are to work with different stakeholders and FUFA to have quality facilities by 2024 for the growth of the game.
“We are glad that we have reached another milestone as FAU to launch what we call the game changer or the practical road map to achieve the targets we’ve set to achieve. To the CEO and FUFA, this was a work of all members, it has taken us time I think around a minimum of 6 months to agree on the well stipulated tasks ahead of us. And to assure you, we were in touch with the federation, as truly we participated and contributed to the new strategic plan FUFA launched out at the assembly”- Stated Hamza Jjunju, the FAU Chairperson
