FUFA Women’s Super League: Uganda Martyrs, Kawempe Through to Semifinals

It’s now confirmed that Women’s football power house, Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC and Uganda Martyrs Lubaga WFC made it through to the semifinals of FUFA Women’s Super League tourney underway at Njeru Technical Center.

Anitah Namata scored the winner for Uganda Martyrs as they register a 2-1 win against resilient Tooro Queens in their last group A game honored on the afternoon of Saturday at Njeru Technical Center.

Spencer Nakacwa first gave the Kidda girls a lead, 30 minutes into the but the lead was cancelled by Resty Kobusobozi’s well constructed goal from the middle of the park.

However, Anitah Namata showed her experience when she restored the lead for Rogers Nkugwa coached side in the added minutes of first half.

The Country Queens couldn’t get back to the scoring chart despite the sweet display of their game. 

Uganda Martyrs went through as the second placed side, qualified with 9 points and a difference of two goals.

Beating Kampala Queens on the slot who were also badly in need of it. However, in their last fixture, Makerere University WFC could not give them that chance though the country Queens won the game 2-1 after full time at Kakindu Stadium Jinja.

According to table standings, Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC went through as the table leaders with nine points and a difference of six goals. Martyrs came as second also with nine points and difference of two goals.

Kampala Queens finished third, Tooro Queens fourth and Makerere University on bottom. The only side that lost all it’s four group games.

 The first group has left Njeru creating space for the group two teams which do report tomorrow.
