FUFA Women’s Super League: Hasifa Nassuna Completes a Brace as UCU Leave it Late against Isra
Hasifa Nassuna completed a double as UCU Lady Cardinals leave it late against resilient Isra Soccer Academy WFC in an encounter held at FUFA Technical Center Njeru.
UCU Lady Cardinals beat Isra Soccer Academy 3-0 on Friday morning at Njeru.
Hasifa Nassuna went on target twice as Teddy Najjuma register her first goal of the season.
It needed UCU Lady Cardinals to press the Academy girls for at least 80 minutes before the route to goals get opened.
The inter-switch of high tower, Shadia Nankya from back to striking and Introduction of Catherine Nakiridde in the 70th minute, created a great impact in Cardinals’ attacks especially in the last 15 minutes.
Catherine Nakiridde laid a tricky diagonal pass to which Isra’s defender, Shanita Nalubwama failed to clear the ball off the danger area for Hasifa Nassuna to hit UCU up in the 80th minute.
Immediately before stabilizing, Mercy Nabulobi laid a well calculated corner kick for Teddy Najjuma to double the lead only after 120 seconds.
Hasifa Nassuna sealed it with a sweet pass between the custodian and the far post.
Hasifa Nassuna now count 91 goals on her name in all FUFA organized leagues since 2015.
UCU now registered their second win of the tournament, moved to six points and win in their last game tomorrow qualifies them to semifinals.
The Cardinals are playing against Olila WFC on Saturday.
Isra Soccer Academy WFC lost their third consecutive game, scoring none and conceded 11 goals which makes them the side that conceded the most goals in the tournament when both groups are combined.
“As a coach, my role is to encourage girls, they might lose hope because they are losing every game but to me they are playing our way, if a team with such younger girls can give you a good performance for at least 50 minutes, it means the future is bright.” Trevor Kavuma, Isra Soccer Academy WFC tactician said after the game.
However his counterpart, Assiimwe Simon of UCU Lady Cardinals said that in the first half his players were on pressure of getting a goal but after half time talk, they changed the plate and commended the good performance of Catherine Nakiridde.
