FTBWEL: Namazzi Stars as URA Ladies Extend Perfect Start with Dominant Win Over Police
By Kayiira Jackson
Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) Ladies Football Club continued their flawless start to the season with a commanding 3-0 victory over Police Women FC on Sunday at Kawempe Muslim SS playground.
The result stretched URA Ladies’ unbeaten run to four matches, taking them to 12 points and top of the Elizabeth Group of Finance Trust Women Elite League, level with She Kasese but ahead on goal difference.
It was a masterclass performance from Vanessa Namazzi, whose versatility and impact proved decisive. The URA star netted a brace while featuring in three different positions across the 90 minutes, underlining her importance to the “Tax Collectors.” Cynthia Kirenga also got on the scoresheet to seal a comfortable win for the hosts.

Despite URA’s attacking intent in the first half, the two sides went into the break deadlocked at 0-0. Police Women showed defensive resilience, keen to avoid a repeat of their previous outing where they conceded three first-half goals to Boni Concillii Girls.
However, the resistance was broken just two minutes into the second half. Namazzi, who had shifted from right back to a more advanced role on the right wing, struck from a tight angle to give URA the lead and ignite celebrations among the home supporters.
URA maintained control of proceedings and doubled their advantage in the 76th minute through Cynthia Kirenga. A defensive lapse by Police Women allowed Kirenga to pounce on a loose ball, and her effort—slightly deflected—found the back of the net.
Namazzi capped off a stellar display in the 87th minute, this time operating in midfield following the withdrawal of Tracy Nabalanzi. She unleashed a long-range strike that put the result beyond doubt and secured all three points.
The defeat leaves Police Women rooted at the bottom of the table with no points after four consecutive losses.

Elsewhere, Jinja United WFC maintained their grip on the Victoria Group summit with 10 points after a convincing 4-1 victory over BUL WFC.
