FIFA U17 Women WCQ: Teen Cranes Fly Above Zimbabwe at Kadiba

Uganda’s U17 women’s national team, the Teen Cranes, delivered a commanding performance to defeat Zimbabwe 4-1 in the second leg of the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers, sealing a comprehensive 6-1 aggregate victory at Kadiba Stadium.

Coming into the fixture with a 2-0 advantage from the first leg in Harare on April 12, 2026, Uganda showed intent from the outset, using their home ground to full effect. Their early dominance paid off in the 10th minute when Brenda Nasaka found the back of the net, stretching the aggregate score to 3-0 and putting Zimbabwe under immediate pressure.

The visitors attempted to stay organized defensively, but Uganda’s pace on the flanks proved too much to handle. The relentless high press and attacking movement yielded a second goal in the 35th minute, courtesy of Immaculate Acen who previously missed a penality. She further extended the aggregate to 4-0.

Uganda continued to dictate proceedings with fluid passing and sustained pressure, adding a third goal before halftime to make it 5-0 on aggregate. However, Zimbabwe managed to pull one back through Shantel Gwenhamo, denying goalkeeper Sharifah Namutebi a clean sheet as the first half ended 3-1 on the day.

In the second half, the Teen Cranes maintained control, managing possession effectively while limiting Zimbabwe to few clear-cut chances. Their composure and tactical discipline ensured the visitors could not mount a comeback.

Oseko Terry Moraa put the result beyond doubt in the 85th minute, netting Uganda’s fourth goal of the evening to seal a 6-1 aggregate triumph and cap off an impressive team performance.

The victory underscores the growing strength of women’s youth football in Uganda, reflecting improved development structures and rising talent within the game.

With Zimbabwe comfortably dispatched over two legs, Uganda now turns its focus to the next round, where they will face either Kenya or Namibia as they continue their quest for a place at the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup.
