CECAFA U18 Championship: Denis Kisiriko Credits His God for Being Part of the Winning Uganda U18 Team

Uganda U18 boys team won the 2023 U18 CECAFA championship held in Kenya and the former beat the latter 2-1 after fulltime on Friday. 

Among the golden boys of Uganda, who won the country only regional trophy this year is Uganda Revenue Authority forward, Denis Kisiriko Luzige. 

At the luncheon on Sunday held at Jevine Hotel Kampala which was organized by FUFA, Kisiriko credited God for the great chance he gave him to be among the historical team.

“I thank Lord that I have utilized the opportunity given to me” said Kiriko. 

Kiriko wasn’t a regular starter for Morley Byekwaso team, he was more of a second alternative coming off the bench.

However, in the Process the forward managed to have a goal and assists including Iconic one to Hakim Mutebi’s trophy winning goal against Hosts, Kenya in Extra time of the final game. 

Speaking to media at the Official FUFA receiving back of the team at Jevine Hotel on Sunday 10th October 2023. Kisiriko said 

“This was my first international outing and has been excitement, as a team we have played together and God propelled us to the victory, I am also thankful that I have managed use well the minutes given to me by scoring at least a goal and some assists, I am the one who turned the run and I am the one who assisted that winning goal in the final” 

Uganda became CECAFA under 18 champions by deafening Host Kenya 2-1 in a final played on Friday 8th December 2023 with Charles Okello Batiibwe and tournaments Most valuable player Hakim Mutebi giving Uganda a come back from a goal down.
