Capacity Building: Over 80 Students Attend Dance Sport One Day Workshop

The Dance sport federation held a students capacity building at their headquarters in Mengo on Saturday as one of the channels to spread the sport in the country.
In this capacity building 25 schools from different regions participated and over 80 students gained knowledge about Dancesport and it will be advantageous in disseminating skills in schools and the entire country.
Like any other sport in the world Dancesport is trying to retrieve the sport to be international.
In this case, since Uganda is participating in international events , this capacity building will give confidence to athletes and judges to be selected by world Dancesport federation on the world scene.
General secretary Mr Ssebuyungo Barnabas has made his remarks on the occasion said that ” with this new curriculum, we are trying to teach these learners tangible things as the competency based curriculum states. So Deeying we have a DJ mix the whole set , with this new curriculum Dancesport rhymes properly to the new system because it is a hands on people learn by seeing people can earn a living these Djs we can also make these students as good sound pollution engineers out of this if a student is in school “
He also added that “Today we have professional Djs, professional judges and professional MCs and these are different technical areas like any other sport where you can say referee, coach, a match assessor and other areas so that’s the difference from the adult entertainment.”
At least 30 teachers from different schools attended the workshop and they appreciated instructors who were in the workshop.
In this case madam Nkinzi Rosemary a delegate from Luwero zone and a teacher from Makulubita Seed High school said that ” this is an opportunity that is given to the learners outside the class and this is a new sport where school owners have been lacking knowledge about the sport therefore after this workshop, we are going back to spread this knowledge to school owners and also to use it for self certain ability in the daily life and also to earn money from public speaking, Djs and also MC particularly.”
One of the student who attained knowledge from the workshop Kembabazi Shanice from St Lawrence Creamland said that ” we have got a chance to expose our talents this is because at least now Dancesport is known and we thank the federation of Dancesport to work tirelessly as far as the sport is concerned”.
