CAF Champions League: SC Villa Reveals Why CBE Game Ticket Price Hiked

A number of football fans in Uganda have been complaining about the high entrance fee of the Sports Club Villa Hotel Energies CAF Champions League qualifier match against Central Bank of Ethiopia FC.
To an ordinary fan in Uganda of recent, the ticket mostly tag at 10,000/- and the highest has been going at 20,000/- but they were shocked over the weekend when SC Villa released the match flyer with entrance fee of 50,000/-.
On Monday, the club’s spokesperson, Afande Asan Kasingye revealed to media in the press conference held at Mandela Sports Industrial Area why Sports Club Villa hiked the price for the ticket.
“People have been saying that the Villa tickets are very expensive, it’s true but FUFA no longer give support to the clubs that represent the country on continent, so its the club to cater for everything. ” Kasingye explained.
“So gate collection is part of the avenues we intend to get funds from, that’s why we request our fans to come and support the team on 17th August at Mandela National Stadium.” He added.
According to Kasingye, the tickets will go on market on Wednesday, 14th August and the selling points shall be all the City Oil Branches in Kampala.
“The tickets shall go on market on Wednesday this week.” Said Kasingye.
“We shall not have online ticket selling platforms, all tickets shall be bought from City Oil Branches in Kampala, we shall have few tickets at the gate, so i recommend our fans to get the tickets early.”
This will be SC Villa’s first time in 20 years to feature in CAF Champions League and the skipper, David Owori revealed that Saturday will be a judgment day.
“We’re ready for that game, I know many are waiting to see how we shall perform, just come and see because Saturday will be a judgment day.” He said.
Central Bank of Ethiopia FC is expected to arrive on Thursday before having their training on Friday at Namboole.
Kasingye asserted that the referees in their game are coming from Zambia and they’re also expected to arrive on the same date.
This will be the first leg of the preliminary round before Villa travel to Ethiopia for the second leg in a weeks time.
