Big League: ‘You’re good at Course Work not Football’, Lugazi Reminds Ndejje University

Lugazi FC have started the 2023/24 Big League with a convincing 3-0 win over Ndejje University at home in Najjemba.

Sam Ssemugugu netted a brace and Derrick Mwanjje added one as Lugazi handed Ndejje University their second defeat of the season.

Inside the 6 minutes of the game, Lugazi’s Sam Ssemugugu scored but was flagged offside and the goal was cancelled.

Sam Ssemugugu scored a beautiful goal later to put Lugazi FC in a well deserved lead when he received a well delivered long ball from defender Savio Kabugo to put the ball behind the net with his left foot.

Before the break, Lugazi FC had more than four chances to stretch their lead but two goals were flagged offside and other three best chances were wasted by Moses Buga and Akodi Solomon.

In the 57th minute, Lugazi’s Ronald Ssempala almost doubled the lead but his shot went few inches from the bottom right corner of the goal post.

It was double joy for Lugazi and double trouble for Ndejje University as Sam Ssemugugu doubled the lead for the hosts.

Ndejje University’s goalkeeper failed to save the ball from the forbidden area as Sam Ssemugugu netted from the rebound to make it 2-0 and his brace on the day.

Samuel Nsubuga had a chance to make it 3-0 for Lugazi but was denied by goalkeeper Eric Kimbowa incredibly saved Samuel’s superb shot in a one-on-one situation.

Few minutes later, Luagzi’s Shafik Kiryowa powerful and well taken shot was denied by crossbar.

Mubarak received the ball inside the box from a low corner and dodged the defender to set for Derrick Mwanjje who smartly scored to stretch the lead for Lugazi.

Ndejje University’s Kayongo created the best chance of the game for the visitors but his shot kissed the crossbar and went outside.

Ndejje University lost 4-3 to Karo Karungi in the first league game this season while Lugazi FC was playing their first league game this season

The BetPawa Big League will continue this Saturday as Jinja North United will be hosting Police FC at Kyabazinga Stadium.
